With so many companies using Instagram, and many users interacting with them, it was quite predictable that company would design tools to help businesses perform better on the platform. Instagram interviewed hundreds of businesses and found that most of them want to stand-out, get insights and find new customers when using the app. The company has listened and introduced new Instagram Business Profile and tools for businesses.
The new business profiles look a bit different that normal ones. You will notice a new contact button, category for your business and a linkable location tag. It’s also different under the hood: business profile gives you access to the new business tools, which allow you to view your analytics and promote your business right from the app.
Think of Instagram’s new business profiles as an Instagram version of Facebook pages for businesses. Besides your business name and profile picture, now you can also add the category your business falls in. By adding the category, users can easily understand what your account or business is all about.
Many companies find it easier to communicate with e-mail than with comments, because the latter are hard to track and take time to sift through. Some of the accounts are putting their email address in the bio, losing precious characters because of limitations. Same happens when writing your physical address in the bio.
Now businesses can choose how they want their customers to get in touch with them: call, text or email when tapping the new contact button. They also have the option to get directions to the location of the business. Plus, a location tag of the business or account is added under the bio section too.
In the right corner of your Instagram business profile you will find a chart icon. It gives you access to your Instagram Insights tool. The new Instagram insights tool gives you valuable data about who your followers are, when they are online, and how popular is your Instagram post.
In the Followers section you can go as deep as viewing your follower locations by country and city, and breaking down their gender and age.
The Insights section will give you more information about your post’s impressions and reach as well as your account’s website clicks and follower activity.
You can create more relevant and timely content by learning more about behavior and demographics of your audience.
Instagram business profile gives you the ability to turn well-performing posts into ads right within the app. It works similar to boosting your Facebook page post.
By simply picking a well-performing post on your account and adding a call-to-action button, your ad is ready to run!
You can select a target audience (or use suggested targeting by Instagram) and choose how long will you advertisement run.
In order to get a business profile, make sure to link your Facebook page to your Instagram account. Instagram business profile and tools will roll out in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand in the coming months. For the rest of the world it will be available by the end of 2016.
